Switching from Mounjaro to Wegovy
People switch between the two licensed weight-loss injections for plenty of reasons — cost, supply, side effects, or how well it's working. Switching is routine, but it is a clinical decision: the timing and the dose you restart on are set by your prescriber, not by a calculator. Here is what's published, and what to take into your appointment.
Why people switch
- Cost or a price change at their current clinic
- Supply or stock availability
- Side effects they're finding hard to tolerate
- Weight loss has stalled and they want to review options
What's different when you switch
The two medicines aren't dosed on the same scale, so you don't simply carry your number across. Both have published titration schedules starting at a low dose (per each product's SmPC), and a switch usually means restarting that escalation under review rather than jumping straight to an equivalent dose. Expect your prescriber to talk about a washout or timing gap and to watch for side effects in the first few weeks.
What we can't tell you
We can't tell you which dose to restart on, or that switching is right for you — that's exactly the personalised judgement a prescriber is for. What we can do is make sure you walk in informed.
